What is a mycotoxin?

  1. A mycotoxin is a molecule released by some molds as a defense mechanism. Its primary purpose is to fight off threats like bacteria and dust mites.
  2. These toxins are not living like mold spores. Mycotoxins are many times smaller than spores and are completely odorless.
  1. Mold creates respiratory and allergy issues, but mycotoxin poisoning can lead to autoimmune disease, mental health issues, miscarriage, and cancer.
  1. Mold releases mycotoxins when it goes through wet/dry moisture cycles and when it is attacked with chemicals like bleach.

Uncover the Truth: Environmental Mycotoxin Testing for Peace of Mind

Get the Answers You Need: Choosing the Right Analysis

Breathe Easy: Identify Airborne Mycotoxins in Your Home

Mold releases harmful toxins called mycotoxins that can easily become airborne. Inhaling these toxins can pose serious health risks. Here’s how air mycotoxin testing can help:

  • Pinpoint Your Inhalation Risk: Discover the specific mycotoxins present in your breathing zone, allowing you to understand your potential exposure.
  • Verify Safe Air After Remediation: Following mold or water damage, testing ensures the air is free of residual mycotoxins, minimizing potential health concerns.
  • Identify Source of Symptoms: If you’re experiencing unexplained health issues, air mycotoxin testing can help determine if your indoor environment is a contributing factor.
  • Breathe with Confidence: Gain peace of mind knowing your indoor air is safe and free of harmful toxins.

Surface Mycotoxins: Don’t Let Them Linger

Mold toxins, or mycotoxins, can become airborne and spread through your HVAC system. But they can also settle on surfaces, posing a potential health risk through contact. Here’s how surface mycotoxin testing can help:

  • Reduce Contact Risk: Identify mycotoxins on frequently touched surfaces like walls, furniture, and belongings.
  • Verify Remediation Success: Confirm thorough mold removal by testing surfaces where mold was previously present.
  • Protect Your Valuables: Ensure the safety of your cherished furniture and belongings with surface mycotoxin testing.
  • Peace of Mind for a Mycotoxin-Free Environment: Gain confidence knowing your home or building is free of surface-level mycotoxins.

Mold/IAQ is Becoming a Bigger Issue

Today’s home and business owners everywhere with so many people having mold related allergies and health issues.

The Importance of Indoor Mycotoxin Testing

Molds are capable of producing toxic chemical compounds called mycotoxins, which can easily become airborne, stick to various surfaces, and cause serious adverse health effects, including immune deficiency and cancer. Taking action to mitigate the danger they present to indoor environmental health is vital.

Spore Trap Testing Is Not Enough

Combining spore trap and mycotoxin testing is crucial to understanding your mold exposure. While spore trap sampling identifies spore species and quantity, it fails to identify airborne mycotoxins. Airborne mycotoxin testing detects toxic levels of mold produced mycotoxins, evaluating potential health risks.

Safeguard Your Health:

Identify the most common indoor mycotoxins that pose significant health hazards.

Post-Remediation Verification:

Mycotoxin testing is essential to confirm the successful reduction of mold-produced mycotoxins after remediation. Current protocols may not always be effective and can even increase their levels. To accurately assess your exposure to health hazards related to mold, spore trap, and air/surface mycotoxin testing are necessary tools.

Lingering Mycotoxins

Due to their chemical structure and resistance to breakdown, mycotoxins can persist even after mold removal. Testing is necessary to ensure removal and prevent ongoing health complications.

You Suffer from any of these Symptoms

  • You discover a leak that has existed for more than 24-48 hours
  • You suspect mold but do not see any visible mold growth.
  • After any flooding or water intrusion occurrence

  • Determines what contaminants are being introduced into the home from outside sources.
  • Identifies what level of chemicals are actually coming from sources such as paint, new carpeting, furniture and cleaning products.
  • Identifies contaminants and/or conditions created due to inadequate performance of your homes furnace and air conditioning system.
  • Tests the effectiveness of current filtration or purification systems being used.
  • Identifies contaminants that create toxic impact to pets.

Formaldehyde Off-Gassing Testing

Recently, there has been an increased national awareness

Growing concern for formaldehyde gas being released from manufactured laminated flooring and other composite wood products. The adhesives and sealants used in many of these products may contain formaldehyde and this formaldehyde vapor can off-gas from the finished product even after it has been installed in a home.

However, recent investigations have shown that formaldehyde off-gassing can still be of a concern from some of these products. They can even be elevated above acceptable levels that they are listed as meeting. Formaldehyde gas is highly toxic and a confirmed human carcinogen. Even at lower exposure levels, formaldehyde gas can cause eye and nasal irritation, headaches and aggravate asthma conditions.

Sani Effect Environmental team can assist you with a noninvasive or bulk formaldehyde sampling. We send our samples out to an independent laboratory that will conduct the analysis and results to help you better evaluate the potential formaldehyde hazards from your composite wood products. Results within 48 hours. We work independently to evaluate and sample your home and property. Our sampling is non-intrusive.
